Realigning my desires

Thanks so much...it has been freeing to acknowledge my feelings as screwed up as they seem to be right now. (It so messes with my mind because it feels like the real thing but there is no future and that makes it fool's gold.) I don't think I have ever been emotionally honest in my life and for many reasons the thought of that felt like death but it was LIFE, wow was I surprised. I am coming to realize that God wants so much more for me than I want for myself and because of a very abusive childhood, I am just now getting that at age 42...

Realigning my desires

Michelle,it isn't necessarily that you seek something less than God's best. What you are experiencing is a longing for romance and true love - it is something you were made for by your Creator. What often happens is our "love and romance" buttons get pushed by someone who isn't a good choice for us, but we "go for it" anyway because our desire to love and be loved is so strong. It would be more concerning if you weren't struggling! The fact that you're battling is pleasing to God because it demonstrates love for Him and desire to be in His will. You are wise to keep going to God with your pain and your feelings as often and as much as you need to. Be weak with Him and let Him minister to you. You will move this in victory and be all the wiser for it! It's not about being fixed - it's about being transformed and this is one of those transforming moments.

Realigning my desires

It is not nearly as painful but the temptation to return to what I am now calling "Fool's Gold" is strong. There is no future in the relationship as it is not God's best for me but something in me seeks a lesser thing than what God has and I have no idea why or how to stop it except to keep going to God to fill me with His life.

Realigning my desires

My heart is breaking over a relationship today and I "stumbled" across your blog which reminded me that I need to realign my desires with what God wants. Thanks very much for the blog and being faithful to write it even when you didn't feel like it. Michelle

Ahhh, yes, I stand at the door and knock if anyone hears my voice and opens the door I will come in...Rev.3:20 One of my life verses is Psa. 46:10, "To be still and know htat I am God", this Rev. passage states the same if you read into it..."if anyone hears my voice" !
